The show where two old friends discover their failures are funnier together.
“Say it aloud – better to laugh than to grieve.” — Jim Hui
“Sing it aloud – better to grieve than to be laughed at.” — Ng Yui-man
Jim Hui and Ng Yui-man once imagined themselves conquering the performing arts world side by side. That plan lasted about two weeks. Realising they worked better than together, the two went their separate ways, carving out their own paths – sometimes brilliantly, sometimes chaotically.
Four years later, they run into each other again. One thing leads to another, and soon they’re back on stage – partly to catch up, partly to compare notes on how life has turned out.
In this candid and quick-witted performance, Ng brings live singing and guitar while Hui counters with sharp storytelling. Between songs and punchlines, the pair trade barbs, swap life updates and revisit the choices that set them on different tracks – from creative obsessions and career highs to marriage, fatherhood and everything in between.
By turns mischievous, reflective and disarmingly honest, Lie-down Comedy is a reunion of two old collaborators who discover that even when life takes you in very different directions, there’s still plenty to laugh about when you meet again.
